Documents Acceptable for Employment Eligibility Verification
USCIS is delaying the effective date of an interim final rule published on December 17, 2008. That rule, which aims to amend regulations regarding acceptable identity and employment authorization documents that may be presented for I-9 purposes, was initially scheduled to go into effect on February 2, 2009. "This temporary extension will provide DHS with an opportunity for further consideration of this rule. USCIS also is extending the comment period for this rule for 30 days." The interim final rule may be found at http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/fedreg/a081217c.html.
